Apply for ministerial credentials

American Ministers Association credentials ministers in three areas. Apply online in English, Portuguese or Spanish: your answers are saved as you go, so you can finish over several sessions.

What you'll need

  • A passport-size picture
  • A picture or scan of a government ID (driver's license, passport…)
  • At least 2 supporting documents (for ordination, your current or previous ordination certificate or ID)
  • Three personal references, other than your pastor, who have known you for at least 5 years

How long it takes

About 30 to 45 minutes. You can stop at any time and continue later from any device.

How it works

The application is completed online, in English, Portuguese or Spanish, and you can save your progress and return at any time.

  1. Step 1

    Apply

    Complete the ten-step application, upload your documents and name three references. The fee of $260.00 covers the application and your first year of membership.

  2. Step 2

    Review

    The AMA office reviews your application, documents and references, and contacts you if more information is needed.

  3. Step 3

    Credential

    Once your application is approved, you receive your member number and credential, and your membership is visible in your account.

  4. Step 4

    Renew yearly

    Keep your membership in good standing with the annual fee of $133.90, paid online from your account.
