Privacy Policy
This policy explains how American Ministers Association, Inc. (“AMA”, “we”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you use americanministers.org, apply for a certification or pay your membership fee.
Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, cell phone, preferred language and password. Passwords are stored only in protected, non-readable form.
Application information: the answers you give in the application, including personal, family, church, education and ministry details; the contact details of your references; the documents you upload, such as a passport-size picture and a government ID; and your signature, together with the date, time and IP address of your signature.
Membership and payment information: your member number, credentials, membership dates and payment history. Card and bank details are entered on the secure checkout page of our payment processor, Stripe, and never reach our servers.
Messages you send us through the contact form, and technical information needed to run and protect the site, such as the IP address of your requests (used to keep your session secure and to limit abuse of our forms) and the essential cookies that keep you signed in.
How we use your information
We use your information to review your application and contact your references, to issue and maintain your membership and credentials, to process payments and send receipts and renewal reminders, to answer your messages, to protect the site against fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see your information
Only authorized AMA staff can see your application and documents. Documents and signatures are kept in private storage, and every staff view is recorded.
We rely on trusted service providers that process information only on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and file storage), PlanetScale (database) and Resend (email delivery).
Public credential verification
Churches, hospitals and other institutions can check a credential on our Verify page by entering a credential or member number. The page shows only the member’s name, certification, whether the credential is valid and its valid-through date. It never shows contact details.
How long we keep your information
We keep account and membership records while your membership exists and as long as needed for our records. Documents from applications that were not approved, or that were withdrawn, are deleted one year after the decision. Documents of approved members are kept while the membership exists. You can delete an application draft at any time before you submit it.
Security
Information travels over encrypted connections, documents are never published at public addresses, and staff accounts are protected with two-factor authentication.
Your choices
You can review and update your profile at any time from your account. To request a copy of your information, a correction or its deletion, write to info@americanministers.org. Some records may need to be kept for legal or accounting reasons.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We do not use advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version, and we will tell members about significant changes by email.
